Cendrine Marrouat: In two decades, how much has the music industry changed? What are the implications for independent artists?
Rob Tardik: Massive changes. First, we are deep into the digital age and that has changed the landscape for everyone in terms of their music and how fans get at it! It’s the age of the indie artist as the big corporate wheel has fallen by the wayside. You can do it yourself! It can be tough being a one-man army wearing all hats and sometimes not having time for the most important factor why we do this, THE MUSIC, and writing! Social media is both an incredible marketing tool to reach / communicate with new fans and an incredible time constraint as well for us, artists. Balance is now essential for survival; in the end, it’s all good. Through it all, music is and simply should be FUN! All else that comes with this is pure icing on the cake!
